Day 1:
- Arrival in Mekele: You will arrive in Mekele, the capital city of the Tigray region in Ethiopia. Our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.
- Briefing and Preparation: In the afternoon, you will have a briefing session where our experienced guide will provide you with important information about the tour. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Afterward, you will have time to prepare for the upcoming adventure.
Day 2:
- Drive to Hamed Ela: After an early breakfast, we will start our journey towards Hamed Ela, the gateway to the Danakil Depression. The drive will take approximately 4-5 hours, passing through the rugged landscapes of the Afar region.
- Dallol: Upon reaching Hamed Ela, we will visit the otherworldly Dallol, known for its colorful hot springs, salt formations, and geysers. You will have the chance to explore this unique geological wonder and capture some amazing photographs.
- Lake Asale: Next, we will head to Lake Asale, a vast salt lake where the Afar people extract salt in traditional ways. You can witness the salt miners at work and even try your hand at the process if you wish.
- Overnight Camping: We will set up our camp near Hamed Ela, where you can enjoy a traditional Ethiopian dinner under the starry sky.
Day 3:
- Erta Ale Volcano: Today, we will embark on an early morning trek to Erta Ale, one of the world’s most active volcanoes. The hike will take around 3-4 hours, and you will be rewarded with a mesmerizing view of the lava lake inside the volcano’s crater.
- Return to Mekele: After spending some time at Erta Ale, we will trek back to the base camp and drive back to Mekele. You will have the evening free to relax and reflect on the incredible experiences of the past few days.
